Review : MAC x Isabel and Ruben Toledo Lipstick in Oxblood

MAC Cosmetics has collaborated with fashion & illustration designers, Isabel & Ruben Toledo for their new Spring 2015 collection.

All the packaging has been designed with graphic illustration in white, black and red. It reminds me of Queen of Hearts from Alice in  Wonderland, which totally creeps me out. What's with the eyes and all.

*glaring my makeup tutorial post, fully loaded with pictures of my eyes*

.....Fine. Not that creepy.

Well at first, I wasn't going to get any. But when I swatched this one lipstick, I almost grabbed the BA's collar and hysterically went GIVE IT TO MEEEE at him, with mountain of drools coming out of my mouth. So cute.

This shade is called Oxblood, the only nude in the whole collection. It is described as light peachy nude and it is a matte finish. Now here is the part where I was sucked in to buy this lipstick. The consistency of this matte lipstick is slightly different from the regular MAC matte lipstick. It's even creamier & smoother. It glides on like a dream and comes off with a sheen and not as drying as matte.

When I first swatched it on the back of my hand, I couldn't believe how smooth it is that I even turned the lipstick upside down to read the on the bottom if it is really a matte finish. It didn't feel any tugging like a matte lipstick can tend to be.

Although it is described as a light peachy nude, it comes off more pink-ish on me. Here is the swatch alone and the comparison with some nude lipsticks that I own.

First of all, my apologies for the terrible crooked swatches. Let me give a short explanation for this.

I'm a left handed but I used my right hand to swatch it on my left hand. If I were to use my left hand, I had to swatch it on my right hand which will then make it difficult for me to take this picture cause I need to hold my camera with my right hand since the shutter is on the right. So I don't see how am I able to take of picture of my right hand when my right hand is occupied with camera, while my left hand is not. And I couldn't ask for my mom's help cause she's currently in the kitchen tengah goreng cucur udang Adabi.

Short right? Right. Moving on.

You can see that Mac Oxblood has a hint of pink in it and that makes it perfect for everyday wear. I've swatched couple more of the lipsticks in this collection and they were all beautiful. So tempted to get MAC Victoriana next.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention. It retails at RM77, slightly higher than regular MAC lipsticks and you can get it at all MAC Cosmetics store in Malaysia. I got mine from Queensbay Mall, Penang.

Will you be getting anything in from MAC Toledo collection?

Tutorial #22 : Warm Cranberry Makeup Look ft MAC Star Violet eyeshadow

Hello beautiful!

My blog has been filled with nothing but tutorials as of late. Are you guys sick of it? Cause I'm not. Haha. I just haven't been doing any makeup shopping damage lately so I don't have anything to review.

Well actually, I did do some makeup shopping. But it was all pre-ordered and I had to wait for them to arrive from overseas. And waiting is paining. Haha suka hati kau nak buat pantun 2 kerat.
Did you really believe that I didn't? Kemon. Kemonnnn. Buying makeup is my air.

So anyways, I have been playing a lot with my makeup and this is the most recent makeup look that I did. Pink cranberry with a hint of warm orange, perfect for any occasion.

The ingredients:
All e/s are from Makeup Geek except for the Star Violet e/s that is by Mac.

Step #1:
Mix Creme Brulee e/s with Chickadee and blend it on the crease all the way to the inner corner. Don't forget to prime your eyelids beforehand to prevent creasing.

Step #2:
I forgot to put this e/s in the ingredients above but here I used County Girl e/s by Makeup Geek as well and dust it on the crease to darken it up a but.

Step #3:
Take Bitten e/s and place it on the outer V of the lid, blending it into the crease.

Step #4:
Now, for the star of the look, memang nama star pun, use Star Violet e/s by Mac and pat it on the eyelid.

Step #5:
Line the waterline using black eyeliner, I used here Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Black. Then, highlight the tear duct area and brow bone with Shimma Shimma e/s. Take Star Violet and Bitten and place it on the lower lash line, smoking it out with Creme Brulee e/s.

Step #6:
Mascara lah mana patut and siap!

The final full face look:

Have fun with your makeup!

Tutorial #20 : Golden Red Makeup Look ft Marc Jacobs Style Eye-Con No. 7 Plush Shadow - The Siren

Helloooooo~

So I finally used my Marc Jacobs' The Siren palette. I got this months ago and the reason I bought it was because the price was marked down to RM143 from RM207. But even if it wasn't on discount, I was tempted to get it anyway cause of the gorgeous color hues. Will post a review on it soon, hopefully before I have a grandchildren. Haha. As soon as I saw it, I immediately knew what makeup look I'm gonna create. Felt so Mockingjay and Girl on Fire inspired. Dah kenapa tah.

The ingredients:

Step #1:
Mix Makeup Geek e/s in the shade Creme Brule & Peach Smoothie and swipe it on the crease. I seriously cannot imagine how did I do my makeup before the existence of these e/s in my life. Oh wait, I can. My makeup was horrific, like please just stay at home and get in the fridge kinda horrific.

Step #2:
I wanted the outer corner of the eye to look reddish so I chose Country Girl from Makeup Geek and place it on the lower crease. Blend blend blend sampai terkehel kena tampal kokyok dekat belakang badan.

Step #3:
Take the third e/s from the palette, the one in coppery bronze color and pat it onto the 2/3 of the eyelid.

Step #4:
Use the second color from the palette, the reddish color and place it on the outer V of the eyelid, blending it into the crease.

Step #5:
Next, take the light gold from the palette and use it to highlight the inner corner. And then dip a cotton bud in a makeup remover and clean up the edge of the eyelid to make a sharp neat line.

Step #6:
Wing out your eyeliner and mascara your lashes. Put on your falsies if you like. And don't mind the bumps on my eyeliner. Will fix that later on.

Step #7:
And it has been fixed. Haha. Use the same e/s that we use on the lid and put it on the lower lashline to make the ombre effect, from gold to copper to red. A small hooded like mine, I love having colors on my lower lashline since the e/s on my lid is not very visible when I look straight up. Sepet katakan.

And you're done. I mean, I'm done. Haha.

Tutorial #16 : Golden Copper Makeup Look ft Nars Duo Eyeshadow in Isolde

Oh hello there.

Let's have a round of applause for the star of the show in today's makeup look; Isolde from Nars Duo eyeshadow. I seriously can't get over the pigmentation and the beautiful sheen of this duo. I've posted a review HERE if you wanna cek cek cekidautttt~

Step #1:
Begin by priming your eyelids. I've never skipped this step cause if not my e/s will crease and melt of off the eyelids. Here I used Mac Paint Pot in Soft Ochre.

Step #2:
Take Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie and blend it on the crease all the way to the inner corner.

Step #3:
To build a gradient color on the crease, use Makeup Geek Frappe and swipe it on the crease but slightly lower than the area in Step 2.

Step #4:
Use Makeup Geek Mocha and place it on the outer V of the lid and blend it into the crease. Later on I went back and built the intensity of this color.

Step #5:
Use the gold color from Isolde and pack it on the inner 1/3 of the eyelid.

Step #6:
Next, use the shimmering copper from the same Isolde duo e/s and place it on the center of the lid, blending it into the right and left e/s.

Step #7:

Use the same duo e/s and put it on the lower lash line. Highlight the tear duct and brow bone with Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma.

Mascara your top and bottom lashes, put on falsies and wing out those liner like you own the world.

Tutorial #13 : Simple Warm Brown Makeup Look ft Stila Eyes Are the Window Shadow Palette [Soul]

In today's look, I'm going to use the brand new eyeshadow palette from Eyes Are the Window Shadow Palette collection. I got myself the Soul palette and boyyyy was I having hard time choosing one palette out of 4. I got this during my recent Birthday Haul. Will post a complete in depth review on this palette soon, so be on the lookout okay?
*cheesy wink*

Step #1:
After priming your eyelids, take Individual and buff it into your crease and blend it upwards. This e/s will act as transition color for other e/s.

Step #2:
Use Peace and blend it into the crease as well, slightly lower than the first e/s.

Step #3:
Mix Character and Being and place it on the outer corner of the eyelid and blend blend blend to eliminate any harsh edges.

Step #4:
Mix Affection and Vitality and put it on the entire eyelid. Take the brush you use on Step 3 and blend all the colors together.

Don't forget to clean up the excess e/s with wipes.

Step #5:
Use Kitten to highlight on the inner corner of the eyes and on the brow bones. Take Being and put it on the lower lash line and buff it out using Individual

Finish off the look with your fav mascara and falsies. Kachingggg siapppp! Macam Old Town 3-in-1 punya senang.
