Tutorial #6 : My Eyebrow Routine (without trimming)

Olaaaaa~

Today I'm gonna show you how to shape your eyebrows without trimming it. My friend, Gem (bukan nama sebenar) has been asking me on how to do long arched eyebrows. I don't know why she has to ask since she has annoyingly beautiful natural eyebrows. Haha. Well if someone asked me something for the third times, I ought to do it man. A tutorial I mean. Not applicable to harta benda sepencarian.

To begin with, meet my naturally sparse eyebrows of mine. Bersepah. Tebal tetapi jarang jarang. Macam eyebrows jantan dah rupa. I personally don't trim my brows but I do cover up the short untrimmed hairs with concealer to make it looks neat.

Here are the tools that I use to do my brows:

#1 : An eyebrow brush or a spoolie
#2 : An eyebrow pencil - Elianto Eyebrow pencil in Brown
#3 : Eyebrow powder - NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in Dark Brown
#4 : An angled brush : Sigma E65 (you can use the brush and spoolie that come with the NYX Eyebrow kit)
#5 : A concealer - Maybelline Mineral concealer in Light

First things first, give your brows a nice brush using eyebrow brush or a spoolie so that the hair is not looking crazy and unruly and bertebaran like this pakcik.

Even a surgeon can't save his brows. Teehee!

Then comes the fun part where you need to draw kind of a frame to your brows using eyebrow pencil. I start by lining the lower line of the brows, starting from the very front of the brows going upward to the natural arch of my brows.

After that, start lining it down by making sort of a turn downwards. Oh my god I'm suck at explaining
*banging my head to the wall*
You know what I mean right?

You can stop the line a little past your eyes. Don't get excited and draw the line til you ears pulak. But I guess you can if you are wearing hijab. Lukis line sampai belakang telinga pun xpe.

Next, do the same on your upper eyebrows. I usually follow my natural eyebrows since mine are rather wide. If you have thin eyebrows and want to make it looks fuller, by all means you may draw it higher than you natural brows.

Stop at the highest point of the brows and start connecting it to the lower brow tails.

Like so. After that, you can start filling in your brows using the eyebrow pencil by making small strokes. Like you are coloring picture in color book. I prefer filling in the brows using eyebrow powder to get a natural finish. Take the powder using a small brush and heavily fill in the outer part of the brows.

Then to create a natural looking brow, use a light hand to fill in the inner part of the brow.

The reason why you need to light handed-ly fill in the inner brows is because you wouldn't want your brows to look too intense and fierce.

Would you?

Lastly, apply some concealer under the brows to sculpt your eyebrows, making it more arched and defined. Also to hide the short untrimmed brow hairs.

See the massive difference?
Now you may head outside with only one eyebrow done and be a new trendsetter. Be a new Lady Gaga.
Lady Gigi?

Just kidding. Please don't do that. Don't forget to do your other eyebrow.

That's better. Oh, and don't be alarmed if your eyebrows are not looking the same. Happens to me all the time. After all, eyebrows are sisters, not twins. It's okay if they look a tiny bit asymmetrical. The ladies understand and the guys won't have too much time to notice.

Hope this is helpful. Good luck!

Till my next tutorial,

Tutorial #5 : Sunrise 'Matahari Merembang' Makeup Look

Well hello there.

In today's look, I incorporate yellow & orange colors with a pop of blue which are inspired by sunrise view.
Or in other word, "matahari merembang atas kepala anak dara oi tak bangun tido lagi ke". Suits me so well, haha.

I used my Sleek Sunset Palette for this look which I did a review here if you want to cek cek cekidautttt. I bought three Sleek palettes at that time so you have to understand why I haven't got enough of it yet.

So down below are the stars of the show. The eyeshadows on the Sleek Sunrise palette have no names so I just kinda throw numbers on them so that you can see which color I am picking on this tutorial. Also, I did use a little help from another orange color from Elianto as a blending color. Also, it has no name. Poor little guy. I'm gonna call him "Where Is The Love?". Hashtag justbecause.

Step #1
Prime your eyes. What do you think I was gonna say? Can't skip this step boo. Then take the orange eyeshadow Where Is The Love and put in on the inner and outer corner of your eyelid. Then swipe the eyeshadow and connect it on the crease.

Leave the center lid open with no eyeshadow. But if you have small hooded eye like me, it's inevitable to get some fallout on the center so just let it be, don't freak out. Haha.
After that, you need to blend the edges of the eyeshadow to eliminate harsh lines.

Like so. See what I mean by blending?

Step #2
Take the bright orange #4 from the Sunset palette and put it on the inner and outer corner of the eyelid, and again connect it on the crease. Blend the color into the transition color that we put earlier.

Step #3
Now take the gold color #5 from the same palette and dab it on the center on the lid.

Easy right? C'mon girl you can do it.

Step #4
If you have a light blue eyeliner, go ahead and pop it on your waterline. But I don't own one (shame on me, need to get one pronto), so I'm just gonna use NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk as a base for a blue eyeshadow color that I'm gonna put on the bottom lash line.

Step #5
Next....yup, you guessed it right, we gonna use blue on the waterline. Use blue eyeshadow #6 and put it on the waterline and blend on the bottom lash line.

Step #6
I was going to put a thin eyeliner because I don't want it to block the sunrise view on my eyelid. But my hand slipped so I just had to make peace with the medium size eyeliner.

There you have it. A sunshiny sunshine eyes. I really love this fun bright look. It made my day. No, wait. It shines my day is more like it. Haha.

Review : Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Polish

Assalammuailaikum ♥

Hey there gorgeous.

Today I'm reviewing the Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Polish.
Pehhh, mukadimah skema macam buat karangan UPSR.

I think this Color Elixir line is fairly new, as in this year new. I just got mine last month at Guardian and if I'm not mistaken there were only 10 shades available in Malaysia as opposed to 20 launched shades.
 Sadly, I didn't bought them...yet.

It retails for RM32.90 and is available at all Watson & Guardian & wherever you can find Maybelline. When I first saw it, I thought it was a lipstick. You know, the physical shape of a lipstick kinda lipstick, because you can see it through the plastic packaging. I got a weird feeling when I had to twist it open. I made an even weirder look (imagine frown forehead + widen eyes + slightly expanding nostrils) when I found out it has an applicator, like a lip gloss.

It claims to be 3-in-1 lip polish product, where it provides the intensity & pigmentation of a lipstick, a moisturizing cushiony feeling of a lip balm and a shine of a lip gloss.

What now?

I picked up two colors, GLAM6 & GLAM7. Tapi hairan bin hairun anak pak aji harian. Because the names of the shades are not the same as the ones in the Maybelline's website. I believe the ones I bought are actually called Celestial Coral & Caviar Couture. I don't have any idea why they change it. I noticed that they do that to Maybelline lipstick as well. They think we couldn't care less on the name. Oh man, we do. I mean, who doesn't want to say "Girl, I'm wearing Couture on my lips right now." *snaps finger*

Anyhow, here are the two Color Elixir that I brought home. Brought as in bought please. Not brought as in hiding it in my socks and walked out the store. I don't wear socks. I wear high heels. Oh my god straying away from the topic. Get it together!

(L-R) : Caviar Couture (GLAM6), Celestial Coral (GLAM7)

Moving on to the lip swatches. I'm gonna show you my bare dry and chapped lips beforehand so you can see the pigmentation of the Color Elixir Lip Polish.

Cakkkk! Tu dia muka. Macam ada samosa dalam pipi.

♥ Celestial Coral ♥

Celestial Coral (GLAM7) is more of a coral-ly with pink undertone color with a right amount of shine. Not too overly glossy like you just dipped your mouth in the cooking oil. The pigmentation is medium buildable. The first swipe does not give the coverage that I want so I put on another layer. And it does not feel sticky or streaky.

♥ Caviar Couture ♥

Caviar Couture (GLAM6) has a reddish berry burgundy color, which I think is the most opaque out of all the Color Elixir that I swatched. This dark tone lip color normally is not my cup of tea, cos it makes me look like an evil stepmother. But I can't resist how beautiful the color is. One stroke of color is enough but it's a bit tricky to get it even on the lip so you need to sweep it back and forth few times.

MY FINAL VERDICT

Application : 4/5
It's easy to apply since it has the tear drop shaped wand. Glides smoothly and does not look streaky but requires few strokes to get it even.

Pigmentation : 4/5
I'd have to say the dark color has more opacity than the coral pink color. Although it doesn't seem to be as intense as a liquid lipstick, I find the pigmentation is great and covers my natural lips well.

Texture : 4.5/5
I love love love how it feels soft and smooth like a lip balm. The texture feels more like a mousse and it is not sticky and overly glossy at all.

Longevity : 3.5/5
Last only around for 3 to 4 hours on me.

All in all, I love the Color Elixir Lip Polish. They do not accentuate the dry patches that I have on my chapped lips. I wish there are more color selections available in Malaysia, like the nude ones.
Please please bring in more shades *peluk kaki mak guard Watson*

Till my next rambling review,
Toodaloo.

What's in my Travel Makeup Bag?

I'm travelling to Johor Bahru for my company's retreat. The retreat isn't for me. It's a long story. Okay okay, I'll tell you anyway. I'm going there to assist my big bosses getting ready for their performance.

Phewww, that's longer than I expected. Haha.

Okay, basically the retreat is held annually at big fancy hotel for the top management level a.k.a the big bosses. On the second day of the retreat, there will be a performance dinner where all divisions will perform according to the theme given. Since it's a competition, you damn right we gonna dance and twist till our feet burn and the stage crack. Not we, the big bosses I mean.

It's a 3-days retreat filled in with boring informative speech & talk session. For the bosses, it's work.
Well for me *putting on sunnies and beach hat*, it's holidayyyyy baby!

Here are the essentials makeup that I bring along when I'm travelling. A little heads up, I'm never a light packer. I always pack more. I live by the motto, "Biar lebih, jangan tak cukup. Kerana diriku begitu berharga. Maybe it's Maybelline maybe it's not". Lagipun, I'm a woman. That alone explains the macam-nak-pergi-umrah luggage that I carry.

A little tip; try to pack your makeup according to the sequence of how you put your makeup on. Starting from face to brows to eyes to bla bla bla. So throw in foundation, concealer, brow powder, eye primer bla bla bla.

The 15 essentials things that I packed (I bring more, but they are absolutely optional. Don't mind me, I have an oh-no-I-shouldn't-leave-you-and-you-and-you-and-you disorder).

1. Face Primer - Benefit "That Gal"
You may skip face primer if you want. But this one I need because ever since I took my acne meds, my skin has been as dry as Sahara desert. Most of my primers are for oily greasy monster that I used to be and they will accentuate the dry patches on my skin. So That Gal primer is my life savior for now because it soften the skin and moisturize the dry patches. Plus, it is in teeny weeny travelling tube and I can just slip it in my pocket and won't notice it's even there.

2. Foundation - Urban Decay Naked Skin
If you plan to spend your time mostly outdoor, bring along a lightweight foundation so that you will comfortable wearing it all day.

3. Concealer - MAC Prolongwear NW25
NEED. Throw it in the bag & zip it.

4. Setting Powder - MAC Prep & Prime Transparent Finishing Powder
To set my under eye concealer. You can use the same powder to set the whole face. It's convenient that way. But I don't. Because both powders need my love this week. Slap me please.

5. Another powder that needs your love - Makeup Forever HD Powder
Just because.

6. Brow powder kit - NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder
I have half eyebrows. When I put on foundation all over my face, it looks like only my eyes are floating.
*goosebumps*
Draw your eyebrows lady. Fake it till you make it.

7. Eye Primer - Urban Decay Primer Portion
In every situation, an eye primer is a MUST to prep for your eyeshadows. Especially if you have oily eyelids. You wouldn't want you eyeshadows to melt at the end of the day, kan kan? Tak meowww grrrr arrr arrrr la kalau eyeshadow di mata berlubang tengah-tengah.

8. Eyeshadow Palette - Sleek i-Divine Ultra Dark Mattes Palette
Bring a palette that is compact, light, and have it all. Meaning, it has all the eyeshadows you ever need. This Sleek palette is perfect. And I haven't had enough of it just yet, so come here you. Come with mama.

9. Eye liner - Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner
Bring you favorite liner. It can be the gel one, the liquid one, the kajol one, which ever you prefer.

10. Jumbo pencil - NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil & Sephora Crayon Jumbo
Basically, it's eyeliner, again. Hear me out first before you write down my craziness score point, will ya? Hehe. In case I ever need an eyeshadow base, be it white for pop of color, or dark for smoky eyes, *snaps finger* I have it lady.

11. Mascara - Maybelline the Rocket Volume Express & Revlon Lash Portion
One for upper lash, one for lower lash. They both demand to have their own mascara. I'm helpless okay.

12. Bronzer - Benefit Hoola
Try to avoid bringing the bronzer in bulky packaging and go for the compact mini size one if you have it.

13. Blusher- the Balm Frat Boy
Again, another mini compact blusher. I love the Balm packaging. They are so cute and light. Ringan sampai kalau jentik melayang p Aloq Setaq.
Bring a blusher that can suit all makeup look. But hey, if you want to bring more, who am I to judge?

14. Lip Balm - EoS Lip Balm
To moisturize & prep your lips before lipstick. A healthy nourishing lips. You need to look good even when travelling. No no, ESPECIALLY when travelling. People will look at you and say "Tu dia segak lawanya orang tu, mai dari mana..".
*a proud Bagan Serai-an*

15. Lipstick & Lip Gloss - MAC Please Me, NYX Pumpkin Pie, Inglot Sleeks Cream & Maybelline Elixir
You can never have/bring too may of this, right? Smack it up ladies!

I use my lovely Victoria's Secret Makeup bag to store all of my babies. It's really spacious and neat. I have plenty of space left. Should I bring more? Oh damn you syaitooonnnnnn!

I hope you enjoy this post and may it help you to pack you travel makeup stuff.
Excuse me now, I need to pack my brushes.
#neverendingpacking #iamcominghome #iamnotmovingtoJB

Till my next disorder,

Tutorial #4 : Monday Blues Makeup Look

Greetings humans.

I don't suppose aliens and cows are reading this, right?

It's Sunday, the half fun day. Because Monday is upon us next. *sighs*
Monday. What better feeling to associate with Monday other than the gloomy and melancholy Monday blues. So put on this makeup look and let's rock Monday!

First of all, excuse the always breaking out skin of mine. I don't see a day passing by without new zits claiming their territories on my face. They think they are Queen Beyonce.

Step 1:
Prime your eyelids using Urban Decay Primer Portion. Then, take any soft brown for transition color. I'm using Creme Brulee from Makeup Geek as always. Swipe it on the crease with no rhyme or reason. It doesn't matter if it's messy. Just get it in there. Tonyoh tenyeh tonyoh tenyeh.

Step 2:
Take dark reddish brown to darken the crease. Use Cocoa Bear from Makeup Geek. Blend it into the Creme Brulee that you put just now. Blend blend blend blend blend.

Step 3:
Prime the 1/3 of the eyelid on the inner corner with Nyx Jumbo Eye in Milk and then prep the rest of the lid with Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tenacious Teal. Blend them with your finger.

Step 4:
Now it's time for the star of the show, my Sleek i-Divine Ultra Mattes V1 Brights Palette (whewww that was mouthful), take the color Pow! and put it in the inner eyelid where we put the white base. After that, use the color Bolt and put it on the rest of the lid. Blend it upward into the crease. Also, blend the white and the blue so that they are connected. Connected? You know what I mean.

Step 5:
Take the same white and put it in the 1/3 of your lower lash line. And for the rest of the lower lash line, use the blue Bolt. Wing your eye with your favorite eyeliner, curl them lashes, glue on your falsies and wallaaaa! You're done.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Now, ready to face Monday and let your eyes tell how blues your are feeling. Haha.
