Review : Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette

Hey guys! Hi. Hello.

Thank you for dropping by.

If you are here on this page, that pretty much means that you would like to read my thoughts on the gorgeous Zoeva Cocoa Blend palette. You're in luck, cause I'm throwing in swatches of all the eyeshadows on here as well. I'm just gonna save you from the dreadful of listening reading 1001 reasons why I bought this palette. It was love at first sight, I wanted it, I needed it probably, I bought it. It's done kay? Naa aaa aaa syyhh syhhh not a word ok? *I just face palm-ed you there*

Just one word to describe this palette.

Beautiful.

Pigmented.

Gorgeous.

Stunning.

Rosa.

Linda.

Okay maybe 6 words, but who's counting? Ngehh.

This palette featured 10 eyeshadows with a good mixture of matte, satin & shimmery finish. The color hues are mostly warm toned with an exception of couple cool neutral colors. What caught my eyes first was the beautiful warm cranberry red eyeshadow and its pigmentation does not disappoint me at all. Most of the eyeshadows are so smooth and pigmented, but of course there's always the few that do not perform as well. That's just how life works, yeah?

All eyeshadows are housed in a thick cardboard palette that comes with an insert.

Isn't she lovely. Isn't she wonderful. Isn't she precioussss.

Now onto the eyeshadows and the swatches.

Bitter Start

The first top row color that you get is this subtle off white color called Bitter Start. It has semi matte finish and comes off a little bit powdery. It's not really pigmented when you first swatch it but it is definitely buildable. I wouldn't say the start is bitter. I would call it, Chin Up Be Confident. Some motivation there, girl. But anyway, I love using this color to set my eye primer and to highlight the brow bone. It'll look beautiful as all over lid color for a simple effortless makeup look.

Sweeter End

Next up we have Sweeter End, a light peachy shimmery color. The texture feels light and soft. It's pretty pigmented but the color does not really pop. I don't fancy this color that much anyway. Sweeter End you say? More like, Know Your Place Please. Haha.

Warm Notes

This color right here is what draws me to this palette in the first place. The warm cranberry red color is spot on beautiful and totally right up my alley. It has shimmery finish with rich buttery high pigmented texture. Sooo gorgeous!

Subtle Blend

Subtle Blend is a warm golden bronze-y color with shimmery satin finish. This color is sooo buttery smooth and pigmented. This will look beautiful to be used for dark smokey bronze look.

Beans are White

Beans are white. Oo..kay?
But this color is a deep cool toned brown with a matte finish. This eyeshadow is the most disappointing one as the color is has the least pigmentation. I built up this swatch with so many layers, I almost could see smokes coming out from my finger. Ishhh spoil betul. As you can see, the color is definitely buildable if you want to darken up your look. But maybe after 18 minutes of layering lah.

Pure Ganache

Pure Ganache is a bright golden coppery color with warm undertone and metallic sheen finish. Another one of my top fav from this palette. I think this color is dupeable for sure but it is still gorgeous nevertheless.

Substitute for Love

Ahhhh. Should I say more? I reallyyyy love it when a palette includes a blending color, especially a warm orange brown like this one. Purrfectttt. It looks almost similar to my all time fav Creme Brulee eyeshadow by Makeup Geek, only a little bit darker and warmer.

Freshly Toasted

A reddish deep brown with warm undertone and matte finish. Another color that I really really appreciate being included in a palette. On top of that, it has great buttery pigmentation and rich in color without being powdery like most matte eyeshadow tends to have. Perfecto!

Infusion

Infusion is a dark brown coffee color with a hint of gold glitter in it. I was pleasantly surprised with the pigmentation as I did not expect it to be as pigmented as it is. I have encountered many similar concept eyeshadows like this; you know the ones with a sprinkle of glitter or shimmer in it, but most of them is very chalky and needs to be built up. This one however surpasses my expectation. But the glitter looks subtle on the lid so don't expect to have full on disco ball glitter on your eyelids.

Delicate Acidity

The last eyeshadow in this palette is called Delicate Acidity, which is a very beautiful cool toned mauve-y taupe with satin sheen finish. Beautiful isn't? This one has great pigmentation too and packs on really smooth on the lids.

Top Row

Bottom Row

PROS:
- Consist of variety finish and formulation, from matte to metallic sheen
- Great pigmentation
- Value for money
- Slim and lightweight packaging
- It has transition eyeshadow color (which is a major brownies point for me)
- Color varsity from light to deep, warm to cool tones

CONS:
- Couple of miss eyeshadows in term of texture and pigmentation

MY FINAL VERDICT:
I loveeee this palette so much. Swatches above speak from themselves. It is a great palette to be added to your collection. Although the colors are not unique and are likely to be similar to the ones you probably own, I really think that everyone should have this palette as it consolidates all the eyeshadows that you need; either for simple laid back daily look or intense bronze/golden look. One palette for all katanya kau oi. I highly recommend it. You cannot beat the price for such great quality eyeshadows in the palette.

Okay, I'm out of vocabulary now. Aigibab. Signing out.

Tutorial #18 : Dramatic Royal Purple Cat Eye Makeup Look

Well hello beautiful people on Earth.

In this post I'm gonna share how to get this purple-y blue cat eye look. Originally I wanted to do black as the cat eye flick but my black pencil liner was missing. Dengki siut. So I opted for blue and I love how it turns out.

Step #1:
As always, begin by priming your eyelids to prevent the e/s from creasing. I use Mac Paint Pot in the shade Soft Ochre.

Step #2:
Take any light plum purple and dust it on the crease. You wanna use a slight amount first and gradually put more. Here I use a matte plum shade by Elianto. I had this for ages and it doesn't have a name. Poor baby. Haha.

Step #3:
Take any eyeliner, preferably with fine and thin tip and use that to draw a flick like you are doing your wing eyeliner. If I'm not mistaken I used Maybelline Hyper Glossy liquid liner.

Step #4:
Next, take any creamy blue or black liner and start doing..how do I explain this..do kinda shark fin shape? And then you just wanna blend it in toward the center of the lid. I used Zoeva Graphic Liner in the shade Blue Lotus for this.

Step #5:
Ok, whew. Apa lagi kena buat ni. Oh, mix Chaos & Urban e/s from Urban Decay Electric palette and pat that colors on the area where we make the shark fin shape just now. Maybe I should just call this a shark fin eye look huh?

And to help the color looks blended and put together, use Bitten from Makeup Geek and swipe it on the crease.

Step #6:
Then I used Makeup Forever Artist Shadow in D-926 and pack it on the eyelid. I loveeee this e/s. It's a purple e/s with blue sparkle in it.

Step #7:
After all that mess, use makeup remover to clean up your cat eye flick. For this look I want to make the purple and blue pop so I didn't do wing eyeliner and just put on falsies. I'm swag like that.

Step #8:
Final steps, use Makeup Geek e/s in Shimma Shimma and highlight the tear duct and brow bone.

Then, line your waterline with purple liner, like the one I used; Sephora Crayon Liner in Purple Stilettos. Next, sat sat sat tak habis lagi....use the mix of Urban & Chaos e/s and smoke out the lower lash line.

Siap!

Happy New Year!
Woot woot 2015!

Review : Zoeva Rodeo Belle Eyeshadow Palette

Today I'm reviewing the Zoeva Rodeo Belle palette that I got from my favorite online makeup website, Luxola. I've had this for more than a month now and I don't know what took me this long to talk about this awesome palette. Apart from the fact that I've been busy buying more makeup of course.

I actually bought two Zoeva palettes (posted it on my collective Luxola haul HERE) and appearance-wise, I was intrigued by the other palette at first. But I ended up loving the Rodeo Belle palette more. This palette retails for RM79 which I think it's a steal considering the beautiful and pigmented eyeshadows that it has.

It comes with an insert that has a similar cover as the palette. The palette is made of slim and lightweight paper board. And when you open it up, tadaaaaaa~ 10 beautiful eyeshadows ranging from reds, greens & blues with matte and shimmering finishes. All of these eyeshadows are so pigmented and their names are so cool too. Obviously cowboy inspired.

Top (L to R) : Early Sunrise, Rodeo Ready, Cactus Flower, Western Diva & Bang Bang
Bottom (L to R) : Yee Haw, Hot Wind, Smoking Gun, Day Money & Deadshot

Early Sunrise
A soft beige color with matte finish. This eyeshadow comes off a bit powdery but it is still pigmented and easily blended.

Rodeo Ready
A matte warm brown. I loveeee when a palette includes a warm brown that is ideal for transition color in the crease like this one. It's so buttery and pigmented too.

Cactus Flower
A soft dusty rose pink with matte finish. Like any other matte eyeshadow, this one has powdery texture and it has less pigmentation compared to others. It gives more color pay off when you use your finger to apply it.

Western Diva
I love the name Western Diva. I can see myself rocking that name if I were a cowgirl. It is a dark brown eyeshadow with gold sparkle in it.  The sparkle does show up but it is scattered when you lay on the eyeshadow. You know, the sparkle does not excessively shown up. Do you even get what I'm trying to tell here? Cause I don't think I do. Just feel me here okay? Okay.

Bang Bang
A maroon eyeshadow color with red undertone. It has beautiful sheen finish and it is very creamy and opaque.

Yee Haw
So cowboy-y right? This eyeshadow is a very unique color. It is a duo chrome eyeshadow of an ocean turquoise blue color with green undertone. It's soooo pretty. Definitely worth some yeeee haaaaw!

Hot Wind
A sea foam green eyeshadow color with golden undertone. This one is pretty unique too. The sheen that it gives is just perfect and it is very creamy and pigmented. Semua pun nak pigmented kau kan.

Smoking Gun
A dark gun metal silver color with blue undertone and metallic sheen finish. Super buttery and opaque. I could say that this is one of the most pigmented eyeshadows in this palette.

Day Money
A matte medium dark blue color. Again, so pigmented and easy to blend with no fall out.

Dead Shot
A dark blue eyeshadow color with red sparkle in it. I don't really get the idea of having sparkle mixed in eyeshadow cause it really doesn't show up much. Might as well make it full on matte or with shimmering finish. But the eyeshadow is undeniably pigmented, so you do you baby.

I posted pictorials on this makeup look using this palette HERE. Check them out.

PROS:
- Consist of variety finish and formulation, from matte to metallic sheen
- Great pigmentation
- Value for money
- Slim and lightweight packaging
- Consist of unique duo chrome eyeshadow colors
- It has transition eyeshadow color (which is a major point for me)

CONS:
- Not really a big deal but I wish the palette comes with a mirror

MY FINAL VERDICT:
I'm pretty sure that if you heard this again from me, you might want to hang yourself, but the eyeshadows are so pigmented. Don't hate me for saying it again and again throughout this entire review. I really really love this palette. I honestly love Zoeva brushes, they are the best but was a bit hesitant to try the palette cause you know, excelling in the brushes line doesn't mean that you are great with other makeup stuff. But I'm so glad that I tried it out anyway cause if not I will be missing out so much. All in all, I highly recommend this palette if you are into reds, greens and blues eyeshadow. The color pay off is amazing and this palette is value for money too.

Tutorial #15 : Blue Smoking Gun Makeup Look ft Zoeva Rodeo Belle Palette

Hey hey hey hoo hoo hoo. Random greeting.

Ever since I got my hands on Zoeva palettes, hati resah jiwa gundah seharum asmara mewangi taman syurgawi berlari ke atas bukit jatuh bergolek punya tak sabar nak guna. So I finally popped one open which was the Rodeo Belle palette and I was soooo in love with the colors and pigmentation. I created this look using only this palette (except for my tear duct highlight).

Step #1:
Prime your eyes to prevent the e/s from creasing. I use MAC's Paintpot in Soft Ochre. That's why my eyelid looks so stark white macam baru lepas main cari benang dalam tepung.

Step #2:
Take Rodeo Ready e/s and swipe it on the crease as a transition color. I put only a small amount at first but later on you will see me use it more for blending other e/s.

Step #3:
This and the next step are optional. I'm just utilizing as much products that I have so that I won't feel guilty buying more. Puahaha. Anyways, here I dabbed on Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe as a base for e/s that I will put later on.

Step #4:
As mentioned, this step is also optional. I just want to put some base so that the e/s color will pop even more. Here I just smudged on Zoeva Graphic eyeliner in the shade Blue Lotus on the inner and outer corner of the eyelid. It will look like a mess but fret not, we will blend it in a bit.

Step #5:
Take Day Money from the palette and put it where we put the blue base just now, which is on the inner and outer corner of the eye. Pat gently to prevent fall out.

Step #6:
Use Smoking Gun e/s and pat it on the center of the eyelid where we put the taupe base just now.

Step #7:
Time for blending and clean up. Take a brush, dip it into Rodeo Ready e/s and start swipe and blend it into the crease. Keep on blend blend blend until there's no harsh edges. Then take a cotton bud with makeup remover and clean up the e/s that exceeds the eyelid.

Step #8:
To make the eyelid pop even more, pat some Yee Haw e/s on the center.

Then use Early Sunrise e/s and highlight the brow bone.

Wing out your eyeliner and apply falsies if you want.

Step #9:
Take the same blue eyeliner just now; the one I used was Blue Lotus by Zoeva and line your water line. And then use Day Money and put it on the outer lower lash line. After that take Yee Haw andre andre yiiibaaa and smudge it on the front lower lash line. Lastly, highlight the tear duct and apply mascara on the lower lashes.

Done! Ding dong deng.

Now off you go riding on your horse and twirling your rope. Yeeehaaaa~

Till my next joyah pictorial,
